Holy Souls – November

November is the month of Holy Souls, with All Saints Day on 1 November and All Souls Day on 2 November. There is much taking place in Church to mark this important month of Holy Souls.

The 1st November is All Saints Day, and is a feast day in which we honour the ‘holy men and women of every time and place now in heaven’.  We celebrate the great saints of Church history such as Augustine, Francis and Therese, as well as the humble ones whose names are known to a few or none.  Tuesday is a Holyday of Obligation and Mass will be celebrated at 19:30 (Monday evening), 09:15 and 19:30 Tuesday.

Wednesday 2nd November  is All Souls Day, when we pray for out departed relatives and friends, and anyone undergoing the purifying suffering of Purgatory, as they await the day when they will join the company of the saints in heaven. Mass will be held at 11:00 (requiem Mass) and 19:30.

On 6 November, Father Egan will be visiting and blessing the graves of relatives and friends of parishioners in Highfield cemetery. Meet at 15:00 at the gates. This will be a wonderful opportunity to assist with our prayers for the faithful departed and their living relatives.

On 21st November, at 20:00, there will be a Liturgy for the Bereaved. Anyone who has lost a loved one is welcome to attend, especially relatives of those who have died over the last year. It is an opportunity for us to pray for the faithful departed, and show our support for bereaved
